1920s

thin, expressive, dark eyebrows were trendy, especially in silent movies when it was hard to show emotion without certain facial expressions. eyes were lined heavily with kohl, and deep red/wine colored lipstick was in, also, the makeup look was 10 times better with a pointy cupids bow.

1930s

pencil thin eyebrows were still a trend, sometimes women would even pluck their brows entirely! popular eye looks became much lighter, using purple and green cream eye-shadows, and cake mascara was in everyone's makeup kit. raspberry reds and maroons were the best lip colors, with more of a rounded cupid bow, compared to the pointy trend of the 1920s. apricot rouge colors were applied to the cheeks in a triangle shape, making the cheekbones  look more prominent; similar to today's contour/bronzing trends.
